Five districts, one city, five personalities

Shanghai's foreign-facing nightlife isn't one street — it's scattered across the metro map. Each district has its own line, station, and mood.

The Captain

A nautical, speakeasy-style hidden gem near the Bund — hard to find on purpose, worth the search. Handcrafted cocktails, wines, sparkling, craft beers, and a globally-inspired menu, with an L-shaped outdoor terrace opening onto the river and Pudong skyline.

Common questions

How are directory listings chosen?
Every listing is checked before publication — we confirm the business is open, verify the address against the metro dataset, and make sure it's genuinely relevant to Shanghai's international community. We don't list places we wouldn't send a friend to.
How do I get my venue listed?
Free basic listings are open to any legitimately operating Shanghai business. Email contact@segplaza.com with your name, address, category, WeChat/contact info and a couple of photos. Review takes a few days.
What makes a listing "Featured"?
Featured listings get top placement, a highlighted badge, and homepage rotation. It's either earned through genuine editorial merit or available as a paid placement.
Why does every listing show a metro chip?
Because "near People's Square" isn't an address. Every listing here is tied to the same station dataset that powers the full metro directory, so you always know the line, the station, and roughly how far the walk is — before you leave the house.
How often is the directory updated?
New listings are added as they're submitted and verified; existing ones are reviewed periodically. Closed venues are marked rather than silently deleted, so old links and reviews still resolve.

Two airports, both on the metro

Line 2 reaches both Hongqiao Airport (T1 & T2, western end) and Pudong Airport (T1 & T2, eastern end) — the only line in the network that connects both.

Shanghai has four major stations — Shanghai Railway Station (Line 1/3/4), Shanghai South (Line 1/3), Shanghai West (Line 11/13/15), and Hongqiao (Line 2/10/17) — the last is also the high-speed rail hub for Beijing and the whole Yangtze Delta.
